Short description of the works:

The former site “Treilarme” was acquired in 2010 by the Brownfield project developer Re-Vive. By order of Re-Vive, De Cloedt Industrial has made up a quotation with a fixed contract sum, regardless of the volume to be excavated and the concentration of the pollution. This after thorough research on the site by Re-Vive and DCI.

The sanitation mainly consisted of excavating pollution by mineral oil, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metal. There was also pollution in the ground water, but because of an intensive excavation, the assessment was made to also take along the ground water this way. Because oil scum was expected, the ground was excavated till just below the ground water level and led directly to one of their own accredited soil purification centres. Then, dry-suction was placed, consisting of several deepwells, combined with open drainage. All water extractions were connected to a water purifying installation that made sure the pollution was caught before being drained to surface water. Afterwards, sanitation was continued in depth, by which the soil was directly led to our soil purification centre.

In the end, the site was replenished with stored soil on the terrain. The in-situ ground water sanitation turned out not to be necessary anymore because of the intensive excavation.

The works were completed to the satisfaction of the client, as well as within the arranged period.
