Period of execution: February 2012.

Short description of the works:

On the site in Temse, pollution of Chrome VI arose in the ground and ground water because of a calamity. Under guidance of de soil expert, the area to be excavated was determined, after which it was completely excavated until right below the groundwater level. Because Chrome VI is very toxic, the necessary safety precautions were taken into account during the excavation.

The polluted soil was directly transported to the physical-chemical soil purifying installation of Bioterra in Bornem.

The polluted groundwater was caught in containers and carried off to a recognized processor.

A Drain that was still underneath the building was used to add a reducing agent to convert any chrome VI that might have been left, to the much less harmful Chrome III.
